Music Curriculum at St John and St Nicolas Schools

In our schools, we use Charanga as the basis of our music curriculum. Charanga is a published scheme, which allows non-specialist teachers to deliver effective music teaching to all children.

In addition to this, we offer multiple opportunities across both schools for children to engage with and develop musically. This includes music tuition in several different instruments. Our music tuition is run by outside teachers from Berkshire Maestros and Hogan's Music.

In both schools, there are opportunities for singing throughout the curriculum including in music lessons, collective worship, drama and musical productions and choirs. Each year, St Nicolas School takes part in Young Voices at the O2 Arena, taking a choir of nearly half the school to participate in this massed choir event.
